Matthew Kavanagh murdered Isiah Dixon 60 at Hillmorton Road, Rugby on 12 April 1958.

They were both lodgers and Isiah Dixon had returned home drunk. Matthew Kavanagh thought he would take advantage of the situation and tried to steal money from him during which he strangled him with his tie. He claimed that the death was accidental as he had suffered from vagal inhibition but it was heard that he had also killed another woman in 1957 and was aquitted for that because he had suffered vagal inhibition then.
